LA DICOTOMÍA HOMOGÉNEA

Hay momentos en la vida en los que, aquellos que vivimos en la heterogeneidad, con nuestras costumbres heterogéneas, nuestros modales heterogéneos, nuestras toxinas heterogéneas, nuestros pasados, presentes y futuros heterogéneos, nuestra capacidad de heterogeneizar nuestras opiniones, conviviendo con las más heterogéneas morales a nuestro heterogéneo alredededor y escogiendo para nuestro vesturario las más heterogéneas gamas de negro, que van del negro brillante cuero negro al abismo velludo del cachemir negro negrísimo de nuestros pullovers de domingo,
debemos enfrentarnos a la homogeneidad más absoluta y flagrante.

Eso fue lo que pensé cuando Rai y yo empezamos estampar los monotipos que, tontamente, habíamos empezado a entintar y desentintar a cuatro manos.

Y, mientras mirábamos, entre las vaporosas emociones de nuestro proceder eminentemente lúdico, ese monotipo que jamás hubieramos podido engendrar de manera individual, nos preguntamos el uno al otro si eramos capaces de distinguir la mano propia de la ajena. La respuesta fue no. Nos servimos otro whisky on the rocks y, satisfechos por haber podido fragmentar de un solo golpe el proverbial engreimiento del creador-onanista, seguimos confundiendo sobre la plancha de zinc lo que ha sido, simple y absolutamente, el primero de una saga de felices encuentros donde ambos dejamos nuestras individualidades cuidadosamente colgadas en el perchero de la entrada del taller.

[There are moments in life in which us, who live in heterogenity, with our heterogeneous habitudes, our heterogeneous manners, our heterogeneous toxins, our heterogeneous past, present and future, our ability to heterogenizate our opinions, living with the most heterogeneous moral in our heterogeneous environs and choosing for our clothes the most heterogeneous ranges of black, from shiny black leather to the black abyss of our Kashmiri Sunday pullovers, we must face the most absolute and flagrant homogeneity.

That was what I thought when Rai and I started printing, foolishly, the four hands monotypes that we had begun to ink and wipe in our single zinc plate.

And while we watched, among the vaporous emotions of our eminently playful behaviour, that monoprint that we never would have been able to breed on an individual basis, we asked ourselves if we were able to distinguish in it the hands of each other. The answer was no. So we served another whiskey on the rocks, and happy to have been able to fragment in one fell swoop the proverbial creator-onanistic vanity, we kept confusing on the plate what has simply and absolutely been the first of a series of happy encounters where we both left our individualities carefully hung on the rack at the entrance of the studio. ]
